Eline Groslot - Toccata (Connesson)

Eline Groslot discovered Guillaeme Connesson for the first time during a concert by the New York Philharmonic. 'The shining one', a work for piano and orchestra dedicated to that evening's performer Jean-Yves Thibaudet, were the first notes she ever heard from Connesson.

'Toccata pour harpe' is a commission from the 'Concours International de Harp Lily Laskine'. A swinging, rhythmic piece, which draws a lot of energy and gives the harp a somewhat percutative role, straying very briefly into a musing passage where you can hear the stars twinkling. Connesson processes the harmonies very thoughtfully, so the pedal work does not break the flow.
