Wim Henderickx

(1962-2022)

Contemporary, Belgium

Wim Henderickx was a Belgian composer, conductor, percussionist, and professor whose music often drew on non-Western cultures, including Buddhism and Oriental philosophy, as in his Tantric Cycle. Electronics frequently featured in his work. He served as Composer-in-Residence at Muziektheater Transparant from 1996 and as Artist-in-Residence with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra from 2013. Henderickx taught composition in Amsterdam and Antwerp, coached the SoundMine course for young composers, and was published by Norsk Musikforlag. He was a member of the Royal Flemish Academy and received national and international awards, including a nomination for Composer of the Year (2017, Norway).
