Tomaso Albinoni
(1671-1751)
Baroque, Italy
Tomaso Albinoni (1671–1751) was an Italian Baroque composer known for his operas and instrumental music. Active mainly in Venice, he published nine collections of works that include sonatas, sinfonias, and concertos, notably introducing the oboe as a solo instrument in Italian concerti. His music was admired in his lifetime and circulated widely across Europe, drawing the attention of contemporaries such as J.S. Bach. While much of his operatic output has been lost, his instrumental works—particularly the oboe concertos—remain central to his reputation today.
