Pierre Bartholomée

Pierre Bartholomée (born 1937 in Brussels) is a Belgian composer, pianist, and conductor associated with the postwar development of contemporary music in Belgium. Trained at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, he began composing in the early 1950s and soon became active as a pianist and producer, including work for radio and documentary media. In 1962 he founded the ensemble Musiques Nouvelles, dedicated to the performance and dissemination of new music. His output includes operas, oratorios, orchestral works, chamber and vocal music, as well as electronic compositions, forming a catalogue of over one hundred works that have been widely performed.
