Mathias Coppens

Mathias Coppens (b. 1988) is a Belgian pianist-composer whose kaleidoscopic works blend contemporary classical, jazz, indie, and cinematic textures. He writes for orchestra, chamber ensembles, choir, dance, and theater, and has composed for leading Belgian and Dutch ensembles including I Solisti, Brussels Philharmonic, Asko-Schönberg, and Ryelandt Trio. His recent projects include the interactive concert Minerals, the music-theater adaptation of Faust, a new work for the Flemish Radio Choir, and film scores for international dance companies. Coppens is co-founder and composer-in-residence of deCompagnie, has released several albums, and is Professor of Composition at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where he also teaches composition for film and games.
