Jean-Luc Fafchamps

(°1960)

Contemporary, Belgium

Jean-Luc Fafchamps is a Belgian composer and pianist whose work explores timbre, non-tempered harmonies and stylistic openness. Initially working in theatre and dance, his compositional practice gradually shifted towards concert music. He first focused on formations in which the piano played a central role, before his interest in non-tempered harmonies and timbral polyphonies led him towards increasingly diverse instrumental combinations. His music is characterized by paradoxical constructions and a multidirectional approach to synthesis, combining diverse musical ideas and sound worlds.
