Christophe Delporte’s artistic career unquestionably starts in 1989, when taking part to RTBF’s « Jeunes Solistes » Contest, he not only gets the second Prize but mainly the Viewers’ Prize by an absolute majority. “Never before had I heard the accordion played that way” was the leitmotiv commenting his performances throughout the various rounds of the competition. Supported by an excellent technique and an extremely rich poetic style, Christophe leads the general public through a repertoire that few people would imagine played on the accordion but which yet belongs to the “classic” pieces, such as Nicolaï Tchaikin’s Concerto n° 1, which he’ll play with RTBF’s Symphonic Orchestra at the Final of the Competition. The year after Christophe represents Belgium in Vienna at EUROVISION’s 5th Young Musician Contest. He will play there with the Symphonic Orchestra of Austrian Radio Channel in the mythical MUSIKVEREIN, broadcasted by 23 TV channels.

Since 2004, after he founded the ASTORIA Ensemble, Christophe Delporte has been specializing in the interpretation of Astor PIAZZOLLA’s music. As the permanent accordionist of MUSIQUES NOUVELLES Ensemble, Christophe collaborated to the creation of Kilda (the Bird Island), Les aveugles (Daan Janssens), Egan (Ramon Lazkano) and Pierre Bartholomée’s Requiem amongst others. Christophe has regularly been invited by the National Orchestra of Belgium to perform Astor Piazzolla’s music in particular, but also for the creation of Jean-Marie RENS’ “Concerto for Accordion and Orchestra”, as part of ARS MUSICA Festival. In 2014 Christophe was invited to play Sofia Gubaidulina “Last Seven Words of Jesus” Christophe DELPORTE is currently Accordion Teacher at the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie de Namur (I.M.E.P.). ​Christophe performs on BUGARI accordion.
